Session 3 – Approaching Fire

This is a general outline of how the Transformation 101 meeting can be structured.  We would obviously encourage you to be led by the Holy Spirit on the specifics of how you go through this material.

Introduction: One of the facilitators once again briefly reiterates why the group is going through this material.  Share your heart for seeing the Transforming Life of Jesus Christ impact your area.

Follow-up previous Homework Assignment: Allow a time of sharing any observations from those who completed the homework assignment of watching the “The Role of Prayer in Spiritual Awakening” by J. Edwin Orr as well as anything else that God has been speaking to them.

Worship/Prayer: Some groups may want to incorporate a time of worship, other groups may choose to simply begin in prayer and then go into playing the opening video clip.

(Questions related to the video)

1. How does what you saw in this video speak to your heart about the state of the Church?

2. If God wants to move in every community as we have seen in some of the previous videos, is it us waiting on Him or Him waiting on us?  (What are the ramifications of our answer to this question?)

3. What would we need to adjust in our current way of doing Church in our area in order to see a sweeping move of God’s Spirit that shifts the culture of our society?

Read aloud from the Bible: Acts chapters 15-21

(If some members of the group are having a hard time reading this much of the Word aloud you may select several people to be the primary readers or utilize an online audio Bible.  The point is to fill our hearts and minds with the Word of God.)

Discussion Questions: (Fellowship on the chapters you read)

1. What is the primary thing that stood out to you in what was just read?

2. What did you learn about the character of God in these scriptures?

3. What did you see regarding your own life?

Action Point:

Are there any adjustments that God would have you make in your lifestyle based on what you read?

Corporate Prayer:  Pray into what is discussed as a group.  Write down anything that He speaks to you so that you can continue to pray about this.

Homework:

1. Continue to pray about what was read in the book of Acts as well as the video clip.  Write down anything that God speaks to your heart.  Bring these observations to the group for a time of sharing during the next session.

2. Listen to “Ten Shekels and a Shirt” by Paris Reidhead.
